December Festivities 2014

Our December holiday festivities at Far Horizons Montessori began with our traditional December Pajama Day. Students arrived in pj’s and fuzzy slippers eagerly awaiting our annual reading of the Polar Express by our guest readers.

Our younger children had time for a little sewing practice before our readers arrived,

and our 5 & 6 year olds had time to finish up their fairy tale story chains just in time to adorn their family Christmas trees.

   Finally, It was story time.

.  It was time to discover the magic of the first bell of Christmas.

Following our story, friends visited over cookies, and hot chocolate with marshmallows before beginning typical classroom activities.

Other December activities included stringing candy and cookie necklaces, decorating gingerbread houses, writing letters to Santa, enjoying a surprise morning of pirate fun, and practicing for our winter musicals.

During this wonderful month of giving, our children helped to make beautiful silhouette pictures of their faces for their parents. Our elementary students also participated in a two week long walk-a-thon to raise money to support the charitable work of Open Arms. Through pledges from their parents, our students were able to raise over $260.00 for sheets, toiletries, and school supplies for young people in need.
